RE100 is a global renewable energy initiative led by The Climate Group (The Climate Group) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), bringing together the world’s most influential companies to work together to increase the use of green electricity from the perspective of the electricity demand side friendly environment.
Apple joined RE100, announcing that it will achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030, and led 175 suppliers to commit to “convert all energy consumed by Apple products to renewable energy by 2030.”
RE100 currently has more than 300 corporate members, and nearly 40% of them rely on Taiwan to achieve a clean supply chain.
The demand of global enterprises for renewable energy will grow significantly; Taiwan’s current low proportion of renewable energy requires the joint efforts of the government and the people to overcome it, and Yuchun, as a renewable energy company, is even more responsible.
Enterprise members achieve energy transformation goals through self-generated and self-consumed green electricity, procurement of renewable energy certificates (RECs), and signing of green electricity sales agreements (PPA).
As of October 2021, a total of 13 companies from Taiwan have participated in RE100.
Whether in Taiwan or in the world, in order to slow down environmental degradation and deal with energy shortages, the elimination of fossil fuels and the use of renewable energy are now in progress. As local governments and companies have announced net-zero goals and carbon reduction paths, the development of renewable energy, Carbon pricing, carbon border tax and other carbon reduction measures have also attracted attention.
Apple CEO Tim Cook once said: “Companies have an incredible opportunity to help build a more sustainable future. The innovations that power our environmental journey are not only good for the planet, but also help us improve the energy efficiency of our products and introduce them around the world. The new clean energy. Climate action can be the foundation for a new era of innovation potential, job opportunities and sustainable economic growth. With our commitment to net zero carbon (carbon neutrality), we hope to be Inspire greater changes in the future.”
In response to the goals of carbon neutrality and zero carbon emission of governments of various countries and the need for major companies to face ESG indicators and propose solutions and practical actions.
This advanced technology, which turns waste plastic pollution sources into renewable energy, will provide a near-perfect solution for the environmental sustainability policies of “plastic reduction, carbon reduction, and green energy” advocated by governments around the world.
